Supporting Institutions
There are many institutions whose main job is to support companies in the logistics sector in Germany. The Chambers of Industry and Commerce are the mandatory professional organization, where logistic companies can find information about the different certifications needed in the field as well as competent advice.
The German Logistics Association (BVL) is a networking association for experts in the German supply chain management and logistics sector. Besides providing information on events and services offered by the Association, 26 regional groups form a platform to establish new contacts and find out about upcoming events and services offered by BVL.
The German Association of Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistic (BME) has the goal to coordinate and actively support the international procurement and logistics activities of business enterprises in global markets by providing services, products and organizing events.
Another industrial federation is the Association of German Freight Forwarders and Logistics Operators (DSLV). The Bonn based association is a member of the European federation CLECAT and the global organizations FIATA and IRU.org. Its goal is to play an important role in political discussions and offers support to its members. The website has only a small English section but in the download-section, entrepreneurs may find a specimen of the general terms and conditions concerning logistics-services.
