Checklist: Formalities for Registering a Business
In order to register a business at the local trade office, you will need the following documents:
- Proof of identity - Valid ID Card or Passport
- Valid residence and work permit
- Proof of registration at the Commercial Register , if necessary.
- Proof of registration with the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts or your liberal trade association for a business offering a regulated trade (e.g. certificate of master craftsmanship, broker's license).
- 10 to 40 Euros for the registration fee
The trade office informs the following authorities about your new firm according to the type of business that you registered: The tax office; the accident insurance fund; the chamber of industry and commerce, the chamber of crafts; the local court (trade register) and the trade supervisory office which is responsible for the health and safety of your employees and customers. Even though this information flow should take place automatically, you should make sure that all of these offices have received the information.
