All mobile phones supporting the GSM standard for mobile communication will be able to log in German mobile networks. Many telephone operators offer international roaming in co-operation with German operators. Germany's mobile network is operated by four big providers. In order to save roaming fees, users can choose prepaid and postpaid contracts with any of them.

Additionally, public telephones are widely available in Germany.
